Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has raced past the Rs 200 crore mark at the worldwide box office in just two days. Trade trackers put the film's two-day global gross at around Rs 208–209 crore, after a huge Thursday opening on October 15 and a solid, if expected, dip on its first Friday.

The Jailer 2 box office day 2 figures show a natural dip from the opening, but the overall pace remains huge. With the weekend and the Dussehra holidays ahead, the Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel is now firmly on track to be one of the biggest Indian releases of the year.

Day 2 numbers: how the film held up

According to trade portal Sacnilk, Jailer 2 earned about Rs 59.70 crore net in India on day one and Rs 35.60 crore net on day two, taking its India net total to roughly Rs 95.30 crore (about Rs 112 crore gross). Its overseas haul so far is put at around Rs 97 crore, pushing the worldwide total to about Rs 209 crore.

Pinkvilla's estimates, which track gross collections, are close: around Rs 108 crore gross in India over two days and roughly Rs 84 crore worldwide on Friday alone, with the overseas market holding better than the domestic one. Numbers differ slightly between trackers, as is normal in the first week, but all of them agree the film has comfortably crossed Rs 200 crore.

Language-wise and region-wise split

Tamil remains the backbone of the collections. Sacnilk's two-day India net breakdown is roughly:

  • Tamil: Rs 68.60 crore
  • Telugu: Rs 19.75 crore
  • Hindi: Rs 6.25 crore
  • Kannada: Rs 0.70 crore

By territory, Pinkvilla's gross estimates show Tamil Nadu leading with about Rs 37.50 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana at around Rs 22 crore, Karnataka at Rs 20.50 crore and Kerala at Rs 20 crore. The Telugu states and Kerala are contributing strongly, which shows how well Rajinikanth's pull travels across the South.

The Hindi version remains the weak spot. Its numbers have been limited after the film's Hindi dub skipped major national multiplex chains over a dispute on the theatrical-to-OTT window, which cut down its screen count in the North.

Why the Friday drop is not a worry

A fall of around 38–40% from opening day may look steep, but the context matters. Thursday was a fan-driven, early-morning-show opening, and Friday was a regular working day. Night shows on Friday were still running at above 85% occupancy, which trade watchers read as healthy word of mouth.

The film also has a stacked cast that is pulling audiences from different markets. Ramya Krishnan, SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan and Yogi Babu feature in key roles, while cameo appearances by stars such as Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Hrithik Roshan have added buzz in Kerala, Karnataka and the North.

How it compares with the first Jailer

The original Jailer, released in August 2023, became one of the biggest Tamil hits of all time and revived the market for Rajinikanth-led mass entertainers. The sequel has opened on a much bigger scale, with wider releases in the Telugu states, Kerala, Karnataka and overseas markets from day one.

Trade analysts note that the first film added close to Rs 300 crore over its first six days. If Jailer 2 keeps up its current pace through the holiday stretch, it has a real chance of beating that early run, though the true test will be how it holds on weekdays after the festive period ends.

What happens next

Saturday and Sunday are expected to bring a big jump, and the Dussehra holidays on Monday and Tuesday give the film a long extended weekend. Trade estimates suggest the worldwide total could cross Rs 400 crore by the end of the weekend, though these are projections and depend on how the audience holds.

The next milestone to watch is Yash's Toxic, which ended its run with about Rs 342 crore worldwide. At its current pace, Jailer 2 looks set to overtake that lifetime figure within days.
