Indian shows and films

Koffee With Karan Season 9 – JioHotstar, October 14

Actor Teja Sajja makes his debut as a reality show host with this Telugu adaptation of the global hit format. Twenty celebrities, including singer Chinmayi Sripada and actor Harsha Vardhan, enter a game where a few secret "Traitors" try to knock out the "Innocents" without being caught. The 10-episode season will drop new episodes every Thursday at noon.

Kappi Squad – JioHotstar, October 15

Roadies Rebirth – JioHotstar and Netflix, October 16

Roadies returns for its 21st season with a new "OGs vs NewGs" twist. Rannvijay Singha is back as host. On the OG side are gang leaders Nikhil Chinapa, Neha Dhupia and Prince Narula, while Abhishek Malhan, Bani J and Baseer Ali lead the NewGs. Unusually, the show will stream on both JioHotstar and Netflix while also airing on MTV, with episodes on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm.

Aasha – ZEE5, October 16

For thriller fans, this Malayalam psychological drama stars Urvashi, Joju George and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The story centres on a buried family secret that comes back to the surface and sets off a chain of suspicion inside the household.

International picks

Disclosure Day – JioHotstar, October 12

Steven Spielberg's science-fiction film, starring Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor, arrived on JioHotstar at the start of the week. The story follows what happens when evidence of life beyond Earth starts to surface and a cover-up begins to unravel.

VisionQuest – JioHotstar, October 14

Marvel's new series brings back Paul Bettany as White Vision, who tries to piece together his memories and identity after the events of WandaVision. James Spader also stars.

The Diplomat Season 4 – Netflix, October 15

Political thriller fans can return to the world of The Diplomat, with Allison Janney and Rufus Sewell back for another season of high-stakes international intrigue.

Still trending from last week

If you missed them, a few recent Indian releases are still worth catching. Parineeti Chopra's Hindi thriller Reporting Live and the Tamil sports drama Mandaadi, starring Soori and Suhas, both landed on Netflix last week. Malayalam fans can also watch Khalifa Part 1, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, on Prime Video.

What it means for viewers

The clear theme this week is reality TV. Three big unscripted shows in Hindi, English and Telugu are launching within three days of each other, which tells you how hard platforms are competing for regular, weekly viewers rather than one-time binge watchers. Shows like Roadies and The Traitors release episodes on a schedule, so audiences keep coming back.

The Roadies deal is also worth noting. Streaming the same show on two rival platforms at once is rare in India and could become a model for big franchises that want the widest possible audience.

For regional audiences, the week is especially strong. Telugu viewers get their own version of The Traitors, and Malayalam viewers have both a light comedy and a dark thriller to choose from.

What happens next

Release dates on streaming platforms can occasionally shift by a day, so it is worth checking the app before settling in. We will be back next week with a fresh list of what is new to stream.
