Vijay Salgaonkar's final chapter is turning into one of Bollywood's biggest hits of the year. Drishyam 3: The Conclusion, starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, collected around Rs 15.5 crore net in India on its sixth day, Wednesday, October 7, taking its domestic total to roughly Rs 232.5 crore net, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
Released on October 2, the Abhishek Pathak-directed thriller has already crossed the Rs 200 crore mark faster than any film in the franchise and is now chasing the Rs 250 crore milestone.
Drishyam 3 day-wise box office collection
The film opened huge on its Gandhi Jayanti release day and held strongly through the weekend before settling into a normal weekday pattern.
| Day 1 (Friday, Oct 2) | Rs 62 crore |
| Day 2 (Saturday, Oct 3) | Rs 53.5 crore |
| Day 3 (Sunday, Oct 4) | Rs 61 crore |
| Day 4 (Monday, Oct 5) | Rs 21 crore |
| Day 5 (Tuesday, Oct 6) | Rs 19.5 crore |
| Day 6 (Wednesday, Oct 7) | Rs 15.5 crore |
| Total India net (6 days) | About Rs 232.5 crore |
| Total India gross | About Rs 279 crore |
Figures are early estimates from Sacnilk and may be revised.
The Wednesday figure marks a drop of about 20 percent from Tuesday, which is typical for a big release in its first week. Occupancy for Hindi shows on day six was around 19 percent across nearly 16,000 shows.
Worldwide collection nears Rs 370 crore
Overseas audiences have also turned up. Reports from The Week, based on trade data, put the film's overseas gross at about Rs 87.5 crore, taking its worldwide gross to around Rs 366 crore in six days. That already puts it past the lifetime worldwide total of the Malayalam Drishyam 3, which released in May this year with Mohanlal in the lead.
The opening weekend was also historic. Ticket-platform data cited by trade reports placed it among the five biggest opening weekends in Bollywood history by tickets sold, alongside films like Jawan, Animal and Stree 2.
Why audiences are turning up
The Drishyam films have built a loyal audience over a decade. The first Hindi film in 2015 introduced Vijay Salgaonkar, a cable-TV operator who goes to extraordinary lengths to protect his family after a crime. Drishyam 2 followed in 2022 and was a major theatrical success. Billed as "The Conclusion," the third part promises to close Vijay's story, and that sense of a finale has clearly driven curiosity.
The cast is another draw. Ajay Devgn returns as Vijay, Tabu reprises her role as the formidable former IG Meera Deshmukh, and Shriya Saran and Ishita Dutta return as his wife and daughter. Jaideep Ahlawat, Rajat Kapoor and Prakash Raj join the ensemble. The combined domestic net earnings of the three Hindi Drishyam films have now crossed Rs 500 crore.
Word of mouth is doing the heavy lifting
A Monday drop of around two-thirds from Sunday is normal for a film that opened this big, and the fact that weekday numbers have stayed in double digits suggests audiences are recommending it to friends and family. Thrillers built on twists depend heavily on that kind of word of mouth, because viewers rush to watch before the plot gets spoiled online. That urgency has helped Drishyam 3 hold its ground through the working week.
What it means for Bollywood in 2026
The film's six-day run already makes it one of the biggest Hindi releases of 2026, and its early-October timing gives it a clear window before the Diwali releases arrive. Koimoi's tracking suggests its first Thursday could rank among the three biggest first-Thursday collections for a Bollywood film this year, behind only Dhurandhar 2 and Border 2.
For Ajay Devgn, the result reinforces his record with franchise films such as Golmaal, Singham and now Drishyam, all of which have built audiences across several instalments.
What happens next
Day 7 is expected to come in slightly lower than Wednesday, with Koimoi's advance-booking based estimate at around Rs 13 to 13.5 crore net. That would take the first-week total close to Rs 245 crore net. Trade watchers expect the film to cross Rs 250 crore net early in its second weekend, and the worldwide total is heading toward the Rs 400 crore mark.
How strongly it holds over the next two weekends will decide whether Drishyam 3 ends up as one of the top grossers of the year. For now, Vijay Salgaonkar's farewell is giving theatres exactly what they needed.
