Shah Rukh Khan turns 61 on Monday, November 2, and this year the celebrations may come with a big-screen gift. Multiple entertainment reports say the makers of King, Siddharth Anand's big-budget action film, are planning to drop a fresh teaser on the actor's birthday, kicking off the film's global marketing campaign ahead of its December 24 release.
The makers have not officially announced a time for the teaser yet, so fans should treat the date as strongly expected rather than confirmed. Here's everything that is known about the film so far.
Why November 2 matters for King
SRK's birthday has become a fixed date on Bollywood's calendar, and King has used it before. On his 60th birthday in 2025, the film's title and first-look poster were unveiled. In January 2026, an action-packed glimpse came out along with the announcement of the Christmas Eve release date.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the new teaser is meant to be "a birthday gift from team King to all Shah Rukh Khan fans" and will mark the start of the worldwide promotional push. An unnamed source quoted in the report claimed that if audiences loved the scale of Pathaan and Jawan, Anand has taken things "a notch higher" with King.
Cast and crew
King marks Shah Rukh Khan's return to the big screen after a gap of three years, following his blockbuster run of Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki in 2023. It is also the film in which his daughter Suhana Khan makes her theatrical debut.
The ensemble is packed: Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Abhay Verma and Raghav Juyal are among the cast. Reports also say Kareena Kapoor Khan features in a special song with SRK titled "Daddy Cool".
Behind the camera, Siddharth Anand directs from a story by Sujoy Ghosh. Sachin–Jigar have composed the songs and Anirudh Ravichander, who worked on Jawan, is handling the background score.

Shot across continents
Filming began in Mumbai in mid-2025 at Mehboob Studios and other city locations before the unit moved to Poland, where large action sequences were shot in Warsaw and Gdansk. A song sequence was later filmed in South Africa. A planned Dubai schedule was dropped because of tensions in West Asia and shifted back to Mumbai. The budget has been reported in the range of Rs 350–450 crore, which would make it one of the most expensive Hindi films ever made.
What it means for fans and the box office
A Christmas release puts King in the most lucrative holiday window of the year, and a strong teaser could set the tone for the advance bookings season. For trade watchers, the key question is whether SRK can recreate the kind of opening his 2023 films enjoyed after three years away. For fans, Monday is simply about celebrating their star – and hoping the teaser arrives on schedule.
The road to King
King has been one of Bollywood's worst-kept secrets for a long time. The project was first linked to Sujoy Ghosh as director before Siddharth Anand, who gave SRK his biggest hit with Pathaan, took charge. The film is produced by Gauri Khan, Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand under the Red Chillies and Marflix banners, with Pen Marudhar handling distribution in India and Yash Raj Films overseas.
That team is a big reason expectations are so high. Anand has built a reputation for large-scale action set pieces, and combining that with Anirudh's background music – a major part of Jawan's success – has fans hoping for a full-blown mass entertainer. Suhana Khan's presence adds another layer of curiosity, since this will be her first big-screen outing after her streaming debut.
What happens next
If the teaser drops as expected, a full trailer and the first songs should follow in the run-up to December 24. SRK's birthday is traditionally one of the busiest days of the year for his fan clubs, so expect social media to be flooded with tributes, fan edits and teaser reactions through Monday.
