The investigation in the Tiger Shroff firing case has widened beyond the shooters. The Delhi Police Special Cell has picked up four more people – two young men from Sonipat in Haryana and two women from Uttar Pradesh – who are accused of arranging and transporting the pistol used in Sunday's attack in Juhu. A juvenile girl has also been apprehended.

All of them have been handed over to Maharashtra Police after a court allowed their formal arrest and granted three days of transit remand to take them to Mumbai.

What happened on October 18

Around 7 pm on Sunday, October 18, two men fired at Tiger Shroff's car in Juhu, one of Mumbai's best-known celebrity neighbourhoods. The actor escaped unhurt. The incident shook the film industry and triggered a multi-state manhunt by Mumbai Police with help from police forces in Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana.

Who has been held

The Kota arrests

The first breakthrough came in Rajasthan, where three suspects were caught at Kota railway station in a joint operation by Rajasthan Police and the state's Anti-Gangster Task Force. Mumbai Police DCP Raj Tilak Roshan said two of the three had fired five to six rounds at the actor's car. Police also traced the motorcycle used in the attack to Andheri. A Mumbai Police team brought the three accused back from Kota on Tuesday.

The Delhi Special Cell arrests

The second set of arrests came on Tuesday. Kunal (21) and Sumit (19), both from Sonipat, were picked up in Haryana, while Radha (23) and Babita (23), from Uttar Pradesh, were caught at New Delhi Railway Station on October 20.

How police say the weapon reached Mumbai

According to investigators, Kunal, who was recently out on bail, was in touch with a man named Anil Pandit through an encrypted messaging app. On Pandit's instructions, he allegedly collected a pistol and 20 rounds from Amritsar and persuaded Radha to carry the weapon to Mumbai.

Police say Radha and Babita travelled to Mumbai by train, with the pistol hidden in Radha's bag, and reached Dadar. A minor boy then allegedly collected the bag from near their hotel. After the firing, Pandit allegedly asked Kunal to help the shooters escape, as they were stuck in Mumbai. The two women left Mumbai for Delhi shortly after.

These are allegations made by the police at this stage. None of the accused has been convicted, and the court process is only beginning.

Why the case worries Bollywood

The firing has revived memories of earlier attacks and threats aimed at film stars in Mumbai. In April 2024, shots were fired outside Salman Khan's home in Bandra, a case in which police also made arrests across several states and traced the plot to a gang operating from outside Maharashtra. What stands out this time, according to the police version, is how the operation was split up: a handler giving orders over an encrypted app, young recruits from different states, and couriers who may not have known each other well. That kind of structure makes it harder for police to trace the person at the top.

For the industry, the bigger worry is security. Many stars live and shoot in busy residential areas such as Juhu and Bandra, where it is difficult to keep a large security cover without disturbing neighbours. Production houses and actors are likely to review their arrangements once more.

What happens next

Mumbai Police will now question all the accused together to piece together the full chain, from the handler to the shooters. Identifying and tracing Anil Pandit, and finding out who ordered the attack and why, will be the key next steps.
