India Women have wrapped up the ODI series against Zimbabwe with a match to spare in the IND-W vs ZIM-W 2nd ODI. Centuries from Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma lifted India to 328 for 6 in the second ODI in Vadodara on Sunday, October 25, before the bowlers dismissed Zimbabwe for 207 in 48.5 overs. The 121-run win gives India an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series – and new captain Smriti Mandhana her first series win in charge.
From early trouble to 328
The scoreline hides a shaky start. Batting first, India lost two wickets for just 19 runs and Zimbabwe's bowlers sensed an opening. What followed was a lesson in rebuilding an innings.
Pratika Rawal, fresh from her century in the first ODI, joined Harmanpreet and the pair added 124 runs. Rawal made a composed 61 off 67 balls, rotating strike while the former captain settled in.
Harmanpreet's eighth ODI hundred
Harmanpreet then shifted gears. She struck 126 off 121 balls with 15 boundaries for her eighth century in ODIs, mixing powerful drives with clever placement. Now playing purely as a batter after handing over the captaincy, she anchored the innings from one end.
Deepti's fireworks at the death
Deepti Sharma took charge in the back half of the innings. Her unbeaten 106 came off only 86 balls, also with 15 boundaries. Her stand of 153 with Harmanpreet for the fifth wicket is India Women's highest partnership in ODIs for the fifth wicket or lower, and it pushed the total well past 300.
For Zimbabwe, Nomvelo Sibanda was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 38, while Nyasha Gwanzura took 1 for 43.
Zimbabwe fight, but Vaishnavi strikes
Chasing 329, Zimbabwe showed spirit. Modester Mupachikwa (49) and veteran Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano (46) kept India waiting for a while, and the visitors batted deep into the 49th over. But the required rate kept climbing.
Young spinner Vaishnavi Sharma did the most damage, finishing with 4 for 39 from her 10 overs. Deepti completed a fine all-round day with 3 for 32, while Jintimani Kalita, Sayali Satghare and N Shree Charani picked up a wicket each.

What this series means for India
This is a series of firsts for a new-look Indian side. Smriti Mandhana has stepped in as captain after the BCCI paid tribute to Harmanpreet's long spell as leader, and two convincing wins – by nine wickets in the first ODI and 121 runs in the second – are the ideal start.
The bigger positives are in the details. Harmanpreet's century shows she remains the backbone of the middle order without the captaincy load. Deepti's quickfire hundred adds a finishing option that India have often lacked. And the wickets for younger bowlers such as Vaishnavi Sharma, Jintimani Kalita – called up to replace Renuka Singh Thakur – and Shree Charani give the selectors more choices.
There are still areas to tighten. Losing two quick wickets at the top for 19 runs is something India will want to avoid against stronger opponents, and the bowlers allowed Zimbabwe to bat nearly the full 50 overs. Against bigger teams, those small gaps can decide matches, so the coaching staff will want sharper starts with both bat and ball.
The ODI series follows India's 3-0 sweep of the T20I leg against Zimbabwe earlier this month.
What's next
With the series already secured, India will look to complete a clean sweep in the third and final ODI. The team management may use the dead rubber to give game time to bench players and test combinations ahead of tougher assignments later in the season. Fans will also be keen to see whether Mandhana, out early in the second game, can return to form with a big score of her own.
