CA Inter pass percentage
As always with the CA Intermediate exam, the pass rates show how demanding the course is. According to the figures released with the result, just over 13% of candidates who appeared in both groups cleared them together.
| Group I | 23,210 passed out of 1,00,301 (23.14%) |
| Group II | 12,938 passed out of 68,400 (18.92%) |
| Both groups | 5,066 passed out of 38,339 (13.21%) |
The "both groups" figures relate to candidates who wrote both groups in this session, so they overlap with the group-wise numbers and should not be added up.

About the CA Intermediate exam
The CA Intermediate is the second of the three levels of the chartered accountancy course run by ICAI, after the Foundation and before the Final. It has six papers split into two groups. Group I covers Advanced Accounting and Corporate and Other Laws, along with Taxation, while Group II covers Cost and Management Accounting, Auditing and Ethics, and Financial Management and Strategic Management. Each paper carries 100 marks, and a candidate needs at least 40 marks in each paper and 50% in aggregate in a group to pass that group.
ICAI now holds the Intermediate exam three times a year, in January, May and September, which gives students more chances to clear the level without a long wait between attempts.
What it means for students
For candidates who cleared both groups, the next step is to complete the required practical training and register for the CA Final course through the ICAI self-service portal. Those who passed only one group will need to prepare for the remaining group in the next attempt.
ICAI has already notified the January 2027 schedule for the Intermediate level, with Group I papers on January 2, 4 and 6 and Group II papers on January 8, 10 and 12, 2027. That gives students who need to reappear a little over two months to prepare, so starting revision now is key.
Verification of marks and certificates
Students unhappy with their marks can apply for verification of marks or request certified copies of their answer books once ICAI opens the application window. The deadlines and fees will be published on icai.org, so keep an eye on the official notices. Pass certificates are generally issued within about 60 days of the result.
Tips for students who did not clear
A result like this can be disappointing, but the CA journey is known for its tough pass rates, and many successful chartered accountants have cleared levels on their second or third try. Go through your paper-wise marks to see where you lost the most, focus on ICAI study material and revision test papers, and attempt the institute's mock tests under exam conditions before January.
What happens next
ICAI is expected to publish further result-related notices, including verification timelines, on its website in the coming days. Students should rely only on official ICAI portals for scorecards and avoid third-party websites that ask for personal details.
