The battle for the throne of Mirzapur has moved to your living room. Mirzapur: The Movie, the big-screen spin-off of Prime Video's hit crime series, is now streaming on Prime Video, and fans are getting more than what played in cinemas. The digital release is an extended cut with never-before-seen scenes, landing about two months after the film opened in theatres on September 4, 2026.
The film is part of Prime Video's festive line-up and is available in Hindi with English subtitles for subscribers.
From web series to cinema and back
Mirzapur began life as a web series and became one of Indian streaming's most talked-about franchises, with characters such as Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Bhaiya turning into pop-culture icons. The movie was the franchise's first attempt at the big screen, and it was declared a hit at the box office. Trade trackers have reported a worldwide gross of more than Rs 330 crore.
Rather than continuing directly after Season 3, the film is set within the timeline of the first season. It revisits the old fight over who rules Mirzapur and takes the story from Purvanchal to the deserts of Rajasthan, with key sequences set around Jaisalmer.
Cast and crew
Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya. Rasika Dugal, Abhishek Banerjee, Sheeba Chaddha, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur and Shweta Tripathi Sharma also reprise their roles from the series. Newcomers to the franchise include Jitendra Kumar and Mohit Malik in key roles, with Ravi Kishan playing Babban Yadav, a drug lord from Jaisalmer.
The film is directed by Gurmmeet Singh, who has been with the franchise since the series, and written by Puneet Krishna. It is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment and presented by Amazon MGM Studios.

What the makers say
Gurmmeet Singh has said the film was a chance to explore how the familiar world of the series could unfold on a larger canvas while keeping its grit and intensity. Sidhwani and Akhtar have described taking the franchise to cinemas as a new experience for them, and said they hope the streaming release brings the film to an even bigger audience.
How critics received it
Reviews in theatres were mixed to positive. Critics praised the performances, the sharp, earthy dialogue, the dark humour and the action. The main complaint was the length: the theatrical version ran 3 hours and 17 minutes, and several reviewers felt the desert portions dragged. That makes the decision to release an even longer extended cut on OTT an interesting one. Fans who wanted more time with their favourite characters will be pleased, while others can watch at their own pace at home.
How to watch Mirzapur: The Movie
- Open the Prime Video app on your phone, smart TV or browser, or visit the Prime Video website.
- Sign in with an active Amazon Prime or Prime Video subscription.
- Search for "Mirzapur: The Movie" and select the extended cut.
- Choose Hindi audio and turn on English subtitles if you need them.
What it means for viewers
For the many viewers who skipped the theatres, this is the first chance to see what the big-screen version of Mirzapur looks like. The film's success has also shown that a streaming franchise can pull audiences to cinemas in India, something producers and platforms will be watching closely as they plan more spin-offs. As always with Mirzapur, the violence and language are strong, so it is best kept for adult viewers.
What happens next
With the movie now on OTT, attention will turn to what comes next for the franchise, including the future of the series. Neither Prime Video nor Excel Entertainment has made any new announcement yet, but the extended cut is likely to keep the Mirzapur conversation going through the festive season.
