How to Download the SSC JE Admit Card
- Go to the official website, ssc.gov.in.
- Open the candidate login or the admit card section.
- Click on the SSC JE 2026 Paper 1 admit card link.
- Enter your registration number and password (or date of birth, as asked) and the captcha.
- Check your name, photo, exam date, shift, reporting time and centre address carefully.
- Download the admit card and take at least two clear printouts.
If any detail on the admit card is wrong, contact the SSC regional office for your area immediately, well before your exam date.
SSC JE Paper 1 Exam Pattern
Paper 1 is a two-hour objective test with 200 questions carrying one mark each. It has three sections:
- General Intelligence and Reasoning: 50 questions
- General Awareness: 50 questions
- General Engineering: 100 questions in your chosen branch (Civil and Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical)
Each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, so guesswork can hurt. Candidates who clear Paper 1 move on to Paper 2 and then document verification.
What to Carry and What to Leave at Home
Carry a printed admit card, an original valid photo ID (Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN card, passport or driving licence) and a recent colour passport-size photograph. If the date of birth on your ID does not match the admit card, carry a supporting document.
Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, bags, notes and other electronic gadgets are not allowed inside. Reach the centre well before the reporting time printed on your admit card; latecomers are usually not allowed once the gate closes.
A Weather Note for South India Candidates
Candidates in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chennai and nearby districts should keep an eye on the weather. The India Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain alerts as Cyclone Murasu approaches the Andhra coast, and some districts have already declared school holidays. SSC has not announced any change to the exam schedule so far, so plan your travel early and watch the official website and your registered email and phone for any notice.
What It Means for Aspirants
SSC JE is one of the most popular routes into central government engineering jobs for diploma and degree holders, offering stable careers in departments such as CPWD, MES and others. With over 1,600 posts on offer, competition will be stiff, and accuracy in the General Engineering section usually makes the biggest difference.
What Happens Next
Once Paper 1 ends on November 6, SSC is expected to release a provisional answer key with an objection window, followed by the result and the Paper 2 schedule. The Telecom JE exam follows at the end of November. Keep your login details safe; you will need them for the answer key and results.
